Stan Wright House
This house was added to our forums in 2010. It was one of those places I never bothered checking out as it was so far out of town and you know, it was just a house (We usually like to explore large complexes). I was mistaken. It was one of those abandoned houses that stand still in time, all of the previous owners belongings remaining like an eerie memorial to how they lived their life.
Once inside the 1940's décor, the old telephone with the rotary dial (my favourite reminder of yesteryear), the stack's of old racing magazines dated pre 1970's, Frigidaire appliances and the gorgeous native timber furnishing the roof to the skirting board took us right back in time. These days most people forego the forums for the faster pace of Facebook and I took along a friend who had never been exploring, these are his photos along with another active explorere from the Facebook page.
I'm pleased I made the time to visit this old treasure to which has been stripped down for the native timber to be restored and sold on. So in a way I suppose Stan Wright House will live on in a near to unappreciated way...

This forum post from "Eleanor1903" provides a bit more information about this old gem:
"Hey guys, im so exited to tell you about this house me and my friends came upon, we heard bout an abandoned house in karaka, so we asked the locals and they all pointed us down to spookers. but one of the young local guys told us where it was. the house is covered in trees and you can only see it from one direction of the road. apparently people were murdered in it im not sure, if anyone can fill me in?
the house was full of furniture, from probably the 1950s? some of the stuff in there would be worth a fortune, the house had an eery feel to it. we all felt uneasy as we walked into one room, there was a chair right in the centre of the room, which was quite creepy and a pair of men shoes directed into the closet as if someone had just taken them off, and in the closet was a bunch of mens cloak i felt like i had to get out of there immediately so i left, but as i left a man appeared out of nowhere and told us we needed to leave and "leave them be" whatever that meant, those words keep replaying in my head and i cannot figure out what he means. so we left and headed on down to spookers to ask if they knew anything about the house, apparently the guy who told us to leave was the undertaker?
but yeah, i just wanted to let you guys know, go have a look! but dont park your car right outside, as it may seem obvious. you have to jump a fence to get into it, and the back doors are open not the front door. good luck!" ( sic )
